How to Adjust Tension on a Troy-Bilt Pony's PTO

November 1, 2020

Since the energy take-off (PTO) lever over the Troy-Bilt Pony controls whether or not electricity generated by the motor reaches the mowing deck, so it is imperative that it works correctly. Stop mowing if you observe if you disengage the PTO that the blades of the mower don’t stop and fix the tension of the PTO cable for your safety. A PTO that’s overly tight or too slack will not control the PTO correctly.

Park set the parking brake and the Troy-Bilt Pony on a level surface. Remove the key in the ignition. By pulling the boot free of the plug disconnect the spark plug wire from the plug. From starting during the PTO adjustment, this prevents the Troy-Bilt Pony.

Move the PTO lever all the way forward to the”On” position. The PTO lever, also known as the blade participation lever, is situated alongside the driver’s seat on the right-hand facet of the mower’s fender. By shifting the deck lift lever raise the mower deck to its position. The deck lift lever is located to the right of the PTO lever. Examine the blade engagement pole to ensure that its protrusions shift away from the PTO bracket inside this setting. Reposition the PTO lever to the”Off” position. Examine the blade participation pole to ensure that its own protrusions make contact . Proceed to correct the blade engagement pole if setting is off.

Put the PTO lever at”Off” position and reduce the mower deck so far as possible. Loosen the nut which holds the blade involvement pole in place. You can now alter the opposite end of the blade involvement pole. Hold the blade participation pole in place and re-tighten the nut to hold the adjustment.

Repeat the procedure in Step 2 to ensure that is accurate. The motion of the blade participation pole should correspond to the job of the PTO lever.

Raise the mower deck to the place when completed using the adjustment and reconnect the plug wire.
