The way to Eliminate Stitching From Pinch Pleated Drapes

December 18, 2022

When you switch your decor, replacing each component can be expensive. If the fabric on your pinch-pleated drapes works together with the space, but their formal fashion doesn’t, it is possible to soften the cloth for simpler window coverings, throw pillows or other soft elements. Determine the row of double or triple pleats spaced across the top of the curtains to flatten the fabric for a different purpose.

Spread out the drapes on a table, wrong side up. A huge dining room table works best, but almost any table that is big enough so the drapes can be set on the top where they don’t readily fall off will work.

Locate the seams on the first pleat on the rear of the curtain. Run up your finger into the pleat until it stops in the stitch. Gently separate the pinch so you can see the thread.

Slide the long point of the seam ripper up the pleat until the stitch enters “V” formed cavity between the double points. At the base of the “V” is where the cutting edge blade is situated. Guide the ripper so the thread of the stitch contacts the cutting edge blade. Give the blade a small push until it severs the stitch. Move to the next stitch and approach it the same way.

Cut all of the stitches from the initial pinch. Once cut, grasp the screw using a tweezers and pull them from the cloth. Continue this task until all of the stitches have been cut and removed.
