3 Easy Crafts for a Glittery Woodland Holiday Display

January 22, 2019

We’d been eyeing designer candles in patterned metallics annually when we realized we can make our own for a good deal less. Simple white pillar candles in glass jars in the grocery store and leftover pieces of Christmas tree trunk are perfect candidates for a vacation overhaul. For some extra colour on your display, treat inexpensive glass ball ornaments to a glossy metallic two-tone finish. These three enjoyable and effortless DIY projects can add a festive accent to a mantel or dining table.

Tree Trunk Ornaments

1. Drill a small hole near the top of each part of timber.

2. Draw a layout freehand with different-colored craft paints. We chose a retro design in gold and white to match our kitschy display.

3. Pull twine through the hole and tie it off at the top.

Candles

1. Tape off the glass candles in distinct patterns. We chose plaid, chevron, horizontal stripes, triangles and also a faux bois.

2. Apply a coating of white art paint as primer over the whole surface of the candleholder. Allow the paint to dry thoroughly, according to the directions on the paint bottle.

Here’s the end result. To get a mantel display, softly arrange evergreen boughs in addition to your mantel. Stagger the peaks of the candles around the boughs by propping some up with additional trunk sections. Nestle painted decorations and timber sections involving the candles. Tuck a large found branch to some boat and hang your completed wood and glass decorations on it.

To round out our display, we piled some firewood and leftover boughs to a basket that was patterned and taped the other glass ornaments at varied heights under the mantel.
